Hello Texas!

With the red rocks of Moab in the rearview mirror (A), we drove through familiar territory as we headed back into Colorado: through Monticello (B); Cortez (C); Durango (D); and Pagosa Springs (E).  We selected Santa Rosa, New Mexico for our overnight stay (F).

Our first destination was Millsap, Texas where my son Joshua, and his family moved last Fall. Our 2nd day took us from Santa Rosa (A); through Lubbock (B); Abilene (C); and finally Millsap. We bit off some heavy traveling as we spent 16 hours on the road over two days. That was not fun, so we agreed to limit future (daily) traveling to 4-5 hours max.

Millsap is near Weatherford which, is a little west of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Millsap is rolling-hills, rural suburban ranch land where horses, cattle, and longhorns are a common sight on many properties.

Oh, and zebras...

It is also green and grassy and home to Live Oak, Cedar Elms, Honey Mesquite, and Ashe Juniper. The beautiful large oak trees at Joshua's place dropped an innumerable amount of acorns on the ground and motorhome.

Noreen was delighted with one particular native animal ~ an Armadillo!

What a joy to visit my son and his family in Texas. They were great tour guides and took us on several excursions throughout the week. A nice treat was to Billy Bobs ("The World's Largest Honky Tonk") and the Ft Worth Stockyards; this is where the "world's only" Longhorn Cattle Drive takes place. About 15-20 Longhorns parade down a 1/4 mile stretch of the original, old red brick road).

I didn't take any pictures of Billy Bobs, but I did enjoy a cold beer and a game of pool with my son, and Noreen relished a cup of fresh brewed coffee.  We also enjoyed a Farmers Market, thrift-store browsing, a BBQ gathering at friend's home, and virtual golf with Josh and grandson Cole.
This spring, we look forward to visiting with Josh, Mariah, and Cole again as we make our return trip to Priest Gulch for our third summer season.

                                                                 SAN ANTONIO TEXAS
With sweet memories and the hope of seeing our family in April of 2026, we head south towards Seguin (suh-geen), Tx. This is where Noreen's niece, Minira, lives with her husband and children.
We stayed at River Shade RV park which is right on the banks of the Guadalupe river. The surrounding pecan trees and river made the park visually pleasant, but the park is not really a destination in itself. Before we visited with our family, we took a day to enjoy the River Walk and The Alamo in San Antonio which, was approximately a 30-minute drive from Seguin.

The time spent with our Seguin family was precious, especially getting to know the family better. Minira and Johnny's children are a joy to be with. We got the biggest kick when Palu (aka Bubbie) dubbed Rick "Uncle Hack". We decided the name was too cute to correct and chuckled every time he called out to Rick. Palu is a wonderful "big brother" to Talia (Tallie).

With sweet memories and hugs to take with us, we departed Seguin and casually drove home to Tucson over the next three days. How blessed we count ourselves with the capability to travel and visit extended family.

We have a combined history of 94 years in the workforce, and to say the very least, retirement has been beneficial. If it is possible, perhaps you too can take advantage of (your) good health, available years, resources, and celebrate the liberation you've so labored towards.
No one (has ever) conveyed how wonderful retirement life could be!!
